Your husband's song has the EXACT same chord progression as the Coeur de Pirate song. Listen to the first verse of their song; pause it; then listen to "Please Be Easy." Identical. Did he purposely lift the entire progression and basic vocal phrasing or did it conveniently slip into his subconcious so soon after your baby shower?

That is really interesting. I'm going to listen to it now. Brent has
actually never heard the Coeur de Pirate song (I heard it for the first time
on Sunday at the baby shower but have become smitten with it quickly) He
wrote Please be easy about 2 months ago for a film project- He usually
writes his music completely free form - but parameters were put on him to
write something inspired to Elvis' "Love me tender" for a particular scene
in the film - so he used that as his inspiration for the song.

I'm off to listen to them now as you've piqued my interest in the
    similarities.

I just went and played them both and other than having a fast beat and
similar harmony I don't thing they are sound alike at all, much less
"exactly" the same. I think insinuating that he plagiarized another artist
is a very strong accusation - and one that Brent would not take lightly. As
a musician and an artist - he would never intentionally plagiarize another
person and in this case any similarities are coincidental as he has never
even heard of Coeur de Pirate (nor had I before Sunday). While I think
general consistencies can be found in many, many songs - accusing him of
"lifting the entire progression and basic vocal phrasing" is unjustified and
unfounded. Brent has enough song writing ability on his own that he doesn't
    need to take from others.

    Beautiful song!
Just wanted to say I've been following your blogs for quite sometime, I love hearing about your adventures and all the updates on your baby. My baby boy loves music, but mind you only good music (he knows his stuff lol) and any good tune can stop him fussing in an instant. He's teething so he has not been to happy but when he heard this song he was all smiles :)

    Love Kay
